Not only does this practice offer financial savings, but it also provides access to some of the most nutritious foods available, making it a great investment!!
Nutrient-Rich Sprouts
Sprouts are essentially young plants that have just begun to grow from seeds.I have been adding them to wraps, salads, avocado toast, and many more for years! What makes sprouts particularly impressive is their concentrated nutrient content, often exceeding that of their mature counterparts, for example, broccoli sprouts hold much more nutrients than a head of full grown broccoli.
Broccoli sprouts are even known for their high levels of sulforaphane, an antioxidant that i'm still learning about, which is associated with various health benefits.
Cost-Effective Cultivation
Growing sprouts is so simple, and so cost effective. All you need are seeds, water, and a container, making it accessible to individuals of all budgets and living situations. Unlike traditional gardening, sprouting requires minimal space and equipment. No soil, or sunlight needed!
Also, you save money by sprouting at home; a small quantity of seeds can yield a substantial amount of sprouts, providing you with a steady supply of fresh, nutritious ingredients at a fraction of the cost of store-bought produce.
Bring Life to Every Meal
Sprouts are my favorite addition to wraps, avo toast, salads, you name it. But now I've started to make them the base of my meals. Trust me, you'll do the same when you start sprouting! (Yes, the 'egg' in the photo below is vegan. by: @yoegg!)
